Scott's service to our Community

Scott began serving our great city in 2000 as a volunteer member of the Code Enforcement Board, serving as Chairman until his initial election to the City Commission in 2001.

Scott is currently serving his sixth term as commissioner, having been elected in 2001 and served as Vice Mayor from 2011 thru 2018 and currently serves as Vice Mayor Pro Tem.

He has worked hard to help create an economic & social environment that encourages business growth and expansion, diversifies our city's tax base, strengthens our code enforcement efforts, reduces the cost of living for residents, and increases the number and significance of our neighborhood associations while also providing a true voice for the needs and concerns of all residents.

Scott strongly believes in the endless opportunities and potential in Lake Worth’s future and has worked tirelessly to help create a healthy environment that addresses the numerous disincentives for investment that have historically stymied our city's growth and prosperity in the past.

For example, he championed the cause of creating a multi-pronged plan to significantly cut the cost of electric bills for all residents, knowing that by doing so the city would be better positioned to address the creation of new and sustainable businesses & jobs, attract more responsible home owners willing to invest in our community, jumpstart investment within the Park of Commerce and most important, provide much needed financial savings and relief to our residents!

To that end, he successfully lead the commission and administration to actually reduce the electric utility rates for our residents that are believed to be the first utility rate reductions in city history!

He is most proud that the rates have been steadily reduced over the last six years, so much so, Lake Worth will now enjoy residential electric rates that are now near or lower than FPL!

Additionally, Scott believes that the long term financial health of Lake Worth lies in our ability to successfully diversify and grow the city’s tax base by continually searching for, identifying and eliminating additional disincentives to meaningful residential and commercial investment.

He supports and embraces the newly created, "Can Do!" culture within our city government, that is providing a positive environment and context for the investments made by families wishing to buy their dream home, as well as businesses wishing to make Lake Worth their first choice when considering business expansion or start uThat said, the successes our City is experiencing is the result of teamwork and collaboration by the residents of Lake Worth Beach, the city administration and Scott's colleagues on the Commission, and he is so proud, privileged and honored to be a part of this collaborative effort.
